First Belgian Neuroinformatics meeting

Description

Neuroinformatics is a young and rapidly growing discipline, aimed at providing computer science tools and infrastructures (such as software for acquisition, analysis, and visualization, etc., and such as data repositories, ontologies, etc.) to support research in Neurosciences.
Besides improving Neuroscientists’ work, such facilities and tools will allow multi-scale data integration, which is today considered a key step toward a better understanding of brain (dys)functions. The development of the field, harmonized globally by the International Coordinating Facility or INCF (http://www.inf.org), is currently built upon individuals’ efforts, national initiatives, and international collaborative programs sponsored by the INCF (see, http://www.incf.org/programs).
The Belgian node, as a national INCF representative, is organizing the first Belgian Neuroinformatics meeting to disseminate to the community the recent developments and to provide it with an opportunity to interact and network with international and local experts. The meeting features contributions from internationally renowned neuroscientists, who will share their results and perspectives on Neuroinformatics:

Sten Grillner, Karolinska Institute, Sweden
Jean Baptiste Poline, CEA-CNRS, France
Thomas WachtlerLudwig-Maximilians-Universität München, Germany
Rembrandt Bakker, Radboud University, Nijmegen, Netherland
Winfried Denk, Max Planck Institute for Medical Research, Heidelberg, Germany
Yves Fregnac, UNIC, CNRS, France.

This one-day meeting is organized in two sessions:
1- a morning session, providing an introduction to Neuroinformatics, the INCF, and the developments across different scientific programs promoted by the INCF,
2- an afternoon session, focused on Belgian Neuroinformatics initiatives.

Organizing committee: Y. Le Franc, M. Giugliano, W. Vanduffel, D. Gall, R. Pochet, B. Schrauwen, J. Sijbers, J. Schoenen

Organized by: Y. Le Franc, E. De Schutter, M. Giugliano
